There had been a plan to make sure the Mordre family could take over. To make sure their dwindling descendants would be more powerful than any of those before in the small town. Everything had been planned from the moment Médée became aware of the pregnancy. Sacrifices would be made to make sure this child would be the essence of power and force of darkness to be reckoned with.
In public, the family had been sweet, if not secretive about their rituals, never allowing other families to watch or participate in them. Rumours started of people going missing, animals found slaughtered, and the Mordre's had kept the pregnancy a secret as long as they possibly could. In case, any witches with foresight might catch on to the family plans.
On a cold, high humidity, dark night, under the waning crescent Moon, AJ came into the world as quietly as he had snuck up on it. Scarred with symbols for the ritual, he barely had a chance at life before being thrown into magic.
A family of dark magic ritualists, the Mordre's held their child up high above a polished onyx bench, complex ritual circles had been drawn out in the forest floor around them in black and red sand and at least one family member had already had their life taken- their blood spilling out soaking the ground beneath the child.
Mid-ritual several witch families of the community descended on the ritual, a large fight breaking out killing the majority of the dark ritualists. Of all the witches there to take out the blood witches, Yvetter took pity on the baby. Taking him from the fight, AJ was sent to live with distant LeBlanc relatives in the Americas. The lie had been started and spread amongst the family for years, AJ was the bastard son of Yvette’s brother. A family shame but still family enough to keep around.
Much of his young life was a blur of dark forests lit by full moons and the soft whispers of his dead mother's voice. As he grew older, incidents began happening. The voices telling him how to use blood when he wanted something, called for more than just his own blood. His duster parents had tried. They really had. Unlike the witches in Reves they even tried to live more normal lives and thought they could handle a bastard child who wouldn't likely have a lot of ability.
Bad things happened around him and he would often be found either sleepwalking into the forests at night or talking to people who weren't there. The Blanchet's did what they could. When they finally couldn't handle him anymore AJ was in his late teens and he was sent back to Reves to be under the careful eye of Yvette LeBlanc.
Reves was a shock to AJs system. He was not used to sensing so many witches and other things. His first two days had been spent getting sick at the influx. And proving himself a shame to The LeBlanc name in the eyes of those who believed the story.
The whispers became more intense in Reves and the sleep-walking did not stop but subtle wards were put in place to stop whatever the ghosts plans were from going forward.
Fast Forward to two years ago, and AJ decided to join a ghost hunting podcast as their psychic consultant, traveling to haunted places in Europe while secretly trying to get the podcast to investigate Reves and its history. He knew it wouldn't be taken seriously by the family which made it easier to hide his intentions.
An extroverted-introvert, there is a definite cap to his ability to handle others. He will make up reasons to get out of a large group activity- not only because those are uncomfortable but also because there is a higher likelihood of being caught in a lie.
Beneath his manipulative side, he lives to find truth- which is an oxymoron of his life but he stands by it. AJ knows there's more and wants to find it.
